There is a Liz Claiborne outlet. I know you like that store. Go inside and shop until I can meet you.

Can anybody recognize the title of this post? It's a Claiborne dress so I just had to...

Saturday a friend of mine surprised me by stopping into my workplace, looking for a shopping buddy. Since I just happened to have a hankering all day to shop, I said yes. Now, I shouldn't really be shopping right now as i'm in debt and need to save up money for school and blah blah de blah.
But we already went over my problem with shopping. And I've actually been doing really good at curbing my spending habits as of late. I didn't end up buying that anthro dress! (As much as it breaks my heart.)

So since I was so good, I decided to be a bit bad. I really needed a new dress to wear to church yesterday, as I was teaching a class! I've never taught before and as someone who is planning on being a teacher I thought it was a great oppurtunity to practice! I was pretty confident that i'd be able to pull it off, but I also knew that a new cute outfit would really help me do my best.

So saturday night my friend and I headed to Winners, we were worried initially that it would'nt be open late (It was already past 5 on a Saturday) but lo and behold, they were open until 9! Score!
At the start of the hunt I grabbed a few different skirts and shorts, just some practical work wear items. I wasn't feeling too excited about anything for my new church outfit.
And then I saw it.

This gorgeous, light, pastel, floral, retro style dress. I was drawn like a moth to the flame. So I grab the nearest dress for further inspection, and it's even my size! Double score!

So I tried it on and that was that. I had to have this dress.
It makes me feel like a housewife in the 50's in England hosing a garden tea party. And I kind of love that feeling. Kind of my dream life.

I just had to dork out and pose with my favorite teapot, which just happened to match my outfit. I kind of collect them. I say kind of because I only have 4. But i'm young. There is still time.

But I had no idea what shoes to wear. I could'nt find any that would go at Winners, and nothing else was open so I gave up on the idea and decided to just go with black heels. Until Sunday morning, when I found these cute yellow wedges I've had for maybe 4 years and never wear. I totally forgot I owned them! And they were perfect.

And it's fun to twirl in.

And it has pockets. Yep.
This is the perfect dress.

And I don't even feel that guilty because it was only $50!

polka dots

I feel bad. I haven't had any decent outfit posts lately. And I might not for a bit. The good news? I got a a job! The bad news? (Other than the less than wonderful job?) No outfit freedom. I get one company shirt that's waay too short, and then I can wear jeans or black pants with it. But hey, a job's a job and I'm thrilled I finally even have a job. Minimum wage is better than no wage.

But today was Sunday, my day off and a day to look nice for church.
I was super pleased with this today. I haven't actually worn this shirt since I bought it last August. I'm terrible with stuff like that. There are certain items that for some reason I just don't wear right away. It's not that I don't like them, I just don't have the right occasion/mood to wear them.
But today was finally the right mood for this polka dot top. I got a lot of comments like "Oooh! Polka dots!" and "Woah! Polka dots!".
I love my polka dots. And you can't go wrong with a black pencil skirt. Especially with pops of red. I even wore a red bag today with it. I always seem to forget to include bags in my outfit posts. I have quite the collection. I'm always a sucker for a new purse.

1.6.10

This pretty much sums up how I am feeling right now.
If you haven't seen the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic, her expression of bewilderment here is valid.

If you have seen Confessions of a Shopaholic, you may recall the scene early on in the movie where Rebecca spots this green scarf, and simply has to have it.
One of the many reasons I loved this movie is because I could relate to it. Though I am not as bad as Rebecca, I may sort of be at risk of being a borderline shopaholic.

Clearly i'm not so good at implementing lessons from movies into my own life.

Case in point, as follows.

I just found this amazingly ADORABLE dress from anthro.

And what's that? It comes in a size 14? And it's my colour? (I adore navy.) And it's a perfect vintage style? It's got sleeves so I don't have to layer a shirt under it or wear a cardigan over it?
And that print!!!! The bicycles!!! I am hardcore in love love love with this dress. So perfect for riding around on a sunny day on my gorgeous cruiser.

I am losing it. Part of me is saying
"You've got room on your credit card, go for it."

The other part of me is saying:
"Yes, just enough room that buying this adorable dress will once again max out your credit card yet again. You don't want that again. You just got it down."

Then the first part says:
"CUTE DRESS"

The other, says:
"DEBT IS BAAAD"

Then the first voice points out I have a job now.

The second voice points out I get minimum wage and part time hours and I live in the most expensive city in Canada. And that DEBT IS BAD. Debt which I need to use my upcoming paychecks to take care of. Oh, and those student loans I have from film school need tending to.

But then, I look at this dress. And I think of all the ways I can wear it. (5 ways just off the top of my head right now.) Which would make it a good investment...

I'm going to go to sleep now. So far no purchases have been made....
We'll see what happens tomorrow...
